Frequently Asked Questions
Commissioning a bespoke piece of jewellery can feel daunting — especially if you've never done it before. Most of my clients arrive with more questions than certainty, and that's exactly the right place to start.
These are the questions I hear most often, answered as honestly as I can. If there's something you don't see here, just get in touch. There's no such thing as a question too small.

Bespoke Process
1. I don't know anything about jewellery. Can I still commission a piece?
Absolutely — and honestly, most of my clients start exactly here. You don't need to know the difference between a solitaire and a pavé setting. What I need from you is much simpler: tell me about your partner, their style, and your budget. I handle everything else from there.
2. How much does a bespoke commission cost?
Bespoke commissions start from £4,000. Every piece is different, and the final cost depends on the design, the stones, and the metal. I'll always give you a full, transparent quote before any work begins — no surprises.
3. How long does it take?
Every piece is different, but most bespoke commissions take between 3 and 4 months from initial consultation to completion — and can range from 6 weeks for a simpler piece to 6 months for something more complex. If you have a date in mind — a proposal, an anniversary, a birthday — tell me early and we'll plan around it.
4. Can I commission a ring and still surprise her?
Yes — and most of my clients do exactly this. You'd also be surprised how much of a head start you already have. Almost every project has a natural starting point — a stone shape your partner once mentioned, a yellow diamond they can't stop thinking about, a family heirloom they've always loved, or even an aesthetic they're drawn to like art deco or vintage. These details are gold. Together we build from there, and they never need to know a thing until the moment arrives.
Not sure of their ring size? Don't worry — I'll show you a few simple tricks to find out without giving the game away.
5. What does the process actually look like?
It starts with a free consultation — just a conversation, no obligation. From there I'll sketch initial concepts, source stones for your approval, and bring the piece to life using the best of modern craft techniques — every detail finished by hand. You'll receive updates throughout so you're never left wondering.
6. Is there a design fee?
For most commissions there's no design fee — it's included in the project. In some cases, where more exploration is needed before committing, I offer a standalone design service starting from £250. This covers initial concepts and, if needed, a physical prototype — and it's fully deducted from the final cost if you go ahead. I'll always let you know upfront if this applies.
7. Where are you based? Can we meet in person?
I work between London and Amsterdam, and I'd love to meet in person if you're based in either city. I also work with clients across the UK and internationally over video call — the process works just as well remotely.
